On October 7, 2011, Saving Grace Animal Shelter reported that sometime during the night, 3 Jack Russell Terrier puppies were stolen from the shelter on Del Rio Road. The Sheriff's Office began an investigation.

On October 11, 2011, an alert citizen reported seeing the stolen puppies in a vehicle at the Douglas County Farmers Co-Op on NE Stephens Street. The citizen was able to provide information including a license number to investigators.

Yesterday at about 1700 hours, Sheriff's detectives contacted Allisha Bentley, who was the registered owner of the vehicle mentioned above. Bentley was interviewed and then arrested for First Degree Theft.

A short time later, detectives contacted Bentley's boyfriend, Aaron Thompson. Two of the puppies were recovered from Thompson and he was arrested for First Degree Theft and Conspiracy to commit Second Degree Burglary.

At about 2130 hours, detectives, patrol deputies and Winston Police Officers served a search warrant at 1787 Winston Section Road. The third puppy was recovered during the search and Marcus Dawson was arrested and charged with First Degree Theft and Second Degree Burglary.

All of the puppies were healthy and were returned to the shelter.
