The Douglas County Major Crimes Team is investigating a fatal officer involved shooting in the city of Myrtle Creek. The incident began yesterday morning at about 1040 hours when John Bocock, 58 of Myrtle Creek, shot Vincent Lytsell, 51, of Myrtle Creek outside of Village Realty on Main Street.

After shooting Lytsell, Bocock walked to the area of First and Oak Street where he was confronted by members of the Myrtle Creek Police Department. Bocock was shot at this location by Myrtle Creek Police Officers. Officers rendered aid to Bocock after the shooting including administering CPR until medics arrived and transported Bocock to Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Lytsell was transported to Mercy Hospital where he was treated for a non life threatening gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave. The investigation is ongoing and the District Attorney's Office expects to present the case to a Grand Jury sometime next week.
