On July 17th, 2013, DFPA responded to two suspicious fires on the West Fork of Cow Creek Road east of Glendale. DFPA believed the fires to be caused by arson. The fires were 1/2 and 1/3 acre in size and were brought under control by DFPA and Riddle Fire.

On the morning of July 18th, DFPA contacted a suspicious male on Walker Prairie Road near the West Fork of Cow Creek. After a brief conversation, the subject ran into the brush.

At about 1400 hours, two more fires broke out on Walker Prairie Road near the location where the suspicious male ran into the brush. Officers looked for several hours but did not find the subject. These fires were approximately 1/4 and 1/10 acre in size and were extinguished by DFPA.

At about 2000 hours, a DFPA fire fighter saw the male subject on the roadway about 1 mile from the earlier fires. A deputy responded to the area and found the subject hiding in the brush. The subject was interviewed and then taken into custody.

James Abbott was transported to the county jail where he was lodged on four counts of First Degree Arson, False Information and an outstanding warrant for Fail to Appear.
