In late March 2014, DCSO Detectives were notified by Oregon State Adult Protective Services of a possible abuse and neglect case involving a 48 year old male with Down Syndrome who lives in the area of Tiller, OR. The victim had been brought to the Rogue Regional Medical Center, Medford, OR, with serious medical issues which included extensive bruising, sores, and weight loss.

The month long investigation found the victim’s brother, Joseph Leland Crumpton, and his girlfriend, Ginger Gramberg, were the primary care providers. Medical professionals determined the many of the injuries they had found on the victim had been intentionally caused and that an obvious need for medical attention had been withheld.

On May 1, 2014, DCSO Detectives and patrol deputies arrested Joseph Leland Crumpton and Ginger Gramberg on numerous counts of First Degree Criminal Mistreatment.

First Degree Criminal Mistreatment is committed when a person with a legal duty to provide care intentionally or knowingly withholds necessary and adequate food, physical care, medical attention; or causes injuries to the dependent person. First Degree Criminal Mistreatment is a Class C felony.
