The Douglas County Sheriff's Office will be hosting a regional Search and Rescue (SAR) training event at Diamond Lake, Oregon, from June 20 through June 22, 2014. The program involves the following Sheriffs Offices: Douglas, Jackson, Curry, Coos, Lake, Josephine, Klamath and Siskiyou and Del Norte Counties in California. As of this date there are about 300 Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue volunteers signed up for this training.

The purpose of the training is to bring together agencies in a non-stress environment to train together. Most SAR operations generally are resolved by the initial responding County, in less than 24 hours. The concern is when the large missions occur, agencies and SAR volunteers need to have an understanding of assisting agencies capabilities.

If the media is interested in an on-site tour of the training please contact Dwes Hutson at 541-440-4464 or .
