Volunteer Information

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office recognizes the need for enhanced civilian participation in the functioning of the Sheriff's Office. The Volunteer Services Division maintains a variety of programs designed to assist the Sheriff's Office while enhancing civilian awareness and participation in goals and activities of the Sheriff's Office.

Standards for Volunteers

  • No felony convictions
  • No sex crimes, narcotics or domestic abuse convictions.
  • No misdemeanor convictions in the past five years.
  • No more than two traffic violations in past three years
  • Misdemeanor convictions of juveniles may be considered on an individual basis

Available Positions

The Sheriff's Office has the following volunteer opportunities available:

  • Records Assistant - Assist records personnel with maintaining records and reports.
  • Reserve Deputy Sheriff (Not accepting applications at this time)
  • Search and Rescue
  • Victim Outreach Volunteer - Assist victims of property crimes.
