Civil Paper Service

ORS: 206.010 (3) states that it is the Sheriff's duty to: Execute the process and orders of the courts of justice or of judicial officers, when delivered to the sheriff for that purpose, according to law.

Court Processes

As one of the statutory Sheriff's duties, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office serves all court processes delivered by the courts. The Sheriff's Office has one Civil Clerk and one temporary employee who serves Civil Process. The Civil Department is open from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Fees

All fees for the service of Civil Process are set by statute. Some papers that the Sheriff's Office is required to serve do not allow the collection of a fee. These include service of Restraining Orders, Subpoenas (Criminal, Grand Jury and Juvenile) and Criminal Citations.
